Mallard Creek STEM Academy will promote high academic achievement by increasing student engagement through a workshop model that encourages and empowers students to take ownership of their learning.
The governing board of Mallard Creek STEM Academy is excited to open this school and serve students by providing them a true integration of a STEM focus beginning in Kindergarten and using a workshop model for instruction to allow students to read and write on their own levels and to grow and improve at their own pace! Our students will be served by teachers who have been trained by The Teachers College of Columbia and Discovery Place Education Studio to ensure they have the most advanced education using best instructional practices.
From inquiry-based hands-on state-of-the-art labs to live animals and ever-changing exhibitions, Discovery Place engages minds and ignites wonder during an unparalleled learning experience. Our students will benefit from our partnership with the Education Studio:

Our Reading and Writing Teachers will be trained by the Teachers College of Columbia through the Reading and Writing Project. All ELA teachers will be trained to deliver their content through a workshop model designed to engage students and increase student achievement.
The mission of the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project is to help young people become avid and skilled readers, writers, and inquirers. We accomplish this goal through research, curriculum development, and through working shoulder-to-shoulder with students, teachers, and school leaders. The organization has developed state-of-the-art tools and methods for teaching reading and writing, for using performance assessments and learning progressions to accelerate progress, and for literacy-rich content-area instruction. www.readingandwritingproject.org
